yesterday Alejandro gave me a pack of Winston cigarettes.
funny i find such a small detail noteworthy.
i spend a lot of time telling myself it's not so bad now a days.
the building next to mine was knocked down last week.
i can see the dieing tree it once blocked.
i promised myself to take a photograph of the crapjob building before it was completely torn down
in the afternoon the light hit it in a special sort of way,
sam and dave agreed that it was gorgeous.
i never took that picture
i sortof feel ashamed every time i walk pass the rubble
i had so many chances to bottle up it's beauty
and put it on a shelf.
i spend a lot of time telling myself it wasn't meant to be,
but that was my own volition, [or lack]

thanks J,
i'll try to start telling myself that.
It's easy to take a picture and bottle up beauty just to put it on a shelf. I think that sometimes beauty shouldn't be captured, but rather reveals itself to be witnessed. For to witness beauty, is a communal sharing between sight and soul. To capture beauty through pictures and what have you, diminshes it, if only slightly. May be your task is not to just take pictures, Win. But rather, to witness the beauty you see around you and commune with it. And see it in its purest form, through the eyes of your soul, not a lens.
That needs no bottle or shelf to remain with you. Instead it is engraved in your heart and in your soul to be taken out and admired from time to time.
I can still the image.
I regret not being able to share it with you.
