i can't win with them.
my friends and i are investing time in our most unmarketable skill sets. love and sincerity. sometimes they look like a rooftop party, other times they look like walking around the lower east side like a modern lover.
this world ain't just made of facts
i'll go backwards

"Pride and the devil are twins. Narcissus looking in his mirror sleeping the spirit sleep, dreaming the world he created is the true world. Awake Narcissus! Awake Narcissus! False pride is mystery...false pride is the undoing of the prince. The prince is the prodigal son, he is nothing without the Father. Through a mirror the world looks darkly and sees the reflection of the true and knows it not...the dark light is in the midst of the night"
But who is the Father?
I had a friend who told me that after having a discussion with her mother about how well she is doing in her new life with her new lover (of the same sex) her mother admonished her for her sexuality. She said the devil was "fooling her" in to thinking whatever she was enjoying was right, and that her love for this other person should be admonished before god's eye. It's sad that to think that the enjoyment my friend is getting out of her life is not readily accepted and greeted with mutual happiness from her mother's perspective. Perhaps she think's she is being too prideful in this dream/reality she has created for herself. Perhaps she should be humbled, or beg forgiveness?
I disagree. I think we all live in our own frameworks and the people that we most enjoy them with should be celebrated. The activities you engage in, the people you know, the progression in to some visionary future you are not certain of.. embrace it all, it is your reality for the taking. The best one can do is to own it and live with the consequences.
